National Tie One on Day

November 24 2010 - National Tie One On Day

I came across National Tie One on Day through the Sew Mama Sew! website. During this time of year, I find myself looking through the various sewing gift ideas they have, but when I saw the link of National Tie One on Day, it sounded like a great thing to participate in this year.

So what is it, you ask? EllynAnne Geisel from Apron Memories writes, “On the day before Thanksgiving, November 24th this year, pause in the preparation of your own meal, wrap a loaf of bread or other baked good in an apron, tuck a prayer or note of encouragement in the pocket, and tie one on… An apron, of course! Deliver the wrapped bundle to someone without your bounty… A neighbor, friend or family member in need of physical or spiritual sustenance, a bit of recognition or just a kind word.”

I just thought that was a wonderful idea and will now go peruse some apron projects and see if I can whip a quick apron up. They are also offering wonderful prizes for participating too. Sign up by going to the logo above or below in this post and click on it to take you to the website.

I'm going to participate - how about you? :)

Good plan, but I don't have a sewing machine anymore.

Oh God, I can't whip up a quick anything that involves sewing! I was kind of hoping for a different kind of "tie one on!" :)
