Saturday

Yesterday, I packed a little picnic supper for Bear and I.

It consisted of brown rice onigiri (rice balls), which are the Japanese equivalent of sandwiches or the quintessential meal to-go. It is stuffed with shaved bonito flakes moistened with soy sauce and the rice is mixed with salt and black sesame seeds.

I also made yakisoba (pan-fried noodles) with some leftover turkey kielbasa, green onion, carrots, yellow bell pepper and mushrooms, topped with a garnish of pickled ginger (I LOOOVE ginger!).

We also brought along a little chardonnay, inconsipicuously packaged by a U.S. manufacturer in aluminum cans. They look like energy drinks, so we sipped incognito, hehehe

We headed down to the waterfront to enjoy some Shakespeare in the park. Tonight, it was the Comedy of Errors. We had quite a laugh!

Then we came home and split a pint of vanilla bean ice cream, topped with some homemade cherry amaretto jam that I just made that afternoon - yum.

'Twas good.
