The Fair and an update!

I recently went to the Western Washington Fair with my sis, BIL, BILs mom and my mom. We all had a great time! We went on opening day, which you could enter for free the first two hours after opening with a canned food donation to benefit the local food bank. It was quite crowded that morning and it looked as if everyone else took advantage of the free admission too.

I stood here watching these adorable piglets for the longest time. They were so so cute! I wanted to take one home with me. LOL

You can't be at a fair and not have fair food, right? The scones are the popular item at the W. Washington fair. On crowded days, the line is ridiculously long. I was the smart one and headed to the scone booth first upon entrance, so that I didn't have to wait later. It was a good thing I did, because those lines were craaaazy! I didn't take any pictures, because the scone (actually sconeS, as I did eat two that day, as I managed to snag one more that evening, heehee) was quickly devoured :)

There was this food booth called Totally Fried. It seems the latest craze at fairs/festivals these days is what kind of whack job food you can deep fry. I've seen the deep fried candy bars on tv, but this booth had everything from deep fried twinkies, to deep fried pickles and they even had a *rispy *reme chicken sandwich... uhm, that last one didn't sound appetizing at all. It's basically a chicken sandwich but instead of regular hamburger buns, they use *rispy *reme donuts. Yikes.

My sister went crazy and got the deep fried twinkie. I had a bite and it wasn't anything special. They also had a sign for "redneck sushi" - I never did find out what that was. Maybe better that I didn't :)

All in all a fun time! I tried to go through the Hobby building to find the items submitted for the knitted goods, but it was too crowded and I couldn't figure out the layout of the building - oh well.

And an update on my Walk for the Animals... I am as of this morning, the #2 Top Individual Fundraiser! w000000h000000! It's been so fun raising funds for the Seattle Humane Society. Just one week left and I'll be doing my walk next weekend. I hope to have pictures to share here then too.
